Which is My #1 Top Anime Episode this Past Monday? – Dororo, Mob Psycho 100 II, or Reincarnated as a Slime

Mogami Keiji the Revenger

As you may already surmise, Dororo, Mob Psycho 100 II, and Reincarnated as a Slime dropped brand-new episodes January 28 or 29 of 2019. If you live in Japan, you may be able to catch these episodes on television. Though, not many people live in Japan, so this demographic of people from other countries can stream these top anime episodes online at the awesome website known as Crunchyroll, except Dororo is only streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

I chose Dororo, Mob Psycho 100 II, and Reincarnated as a Slime as the three top anime episodes because these are the only three great series I watch on Mondays this winter season of 2019. I have been reviewing Reincarnated as a Slime since it first premiered back in the fall, and today I will be reviewing its 17th episode. Now, I will be reviewing Dororo starting at episode 4 and Mob Psycho 100 II starting at episode 4, and you should give these fantastic series a viewing from the beginning.

Down in the paragraphs below, I will give my quick review of these three top anime episodes, and then I will decide which of these series is the #1 episode for Monday, January 28 of 2019 US Eastern time.

Which anime episode had the best plot?

Hyakkimaru Listening to the RainMob Psycho 100 II episode 4 had the best plot because the stakes were very high and the main character was struggling to fight such a powerful evil spirit. The vast amount of conflict is what gave this episode the #1 plot.

Dororo episode 4 had a simple storyline about extreme tragedy including some moments of conflict, so I would put the plot of this episode at #2.

Reincarnated as a Slime episode 17 did not have any conflict, although, there was a great amount of world building and story progression. However, this was nothing more than a set up episode and it didn’t really blow my mind, so I would have to put the plot of this episode at #3.

Which anime episode had the best characters?

The Beastkeeper Phobia ArrivesReincarnated as a Slime episode 17 had a great number of characters who all seem like they would be important to the overall story. We get a good amount of characterization for these characters as well as some development for each, so I will have to give the characters of this episode the #1 spot.

Mob Psycho 100 II episode 4 had an equally strong protagonist and antagonist, a few important supporting characters, and dozens of background characters no one really cares about. I give this the #2 spot for best characters because it mainly focuses on the protagonist and antagonist.

Dororo episode 4 focuses mainly on the tragedy of a character and it was perfect, but that pushed the main characters slightly to the background and they got no real development, which is why I had to put this at the #3 spot for best characters.

Which anime episode had the best tone and themes?

Evil Spirit Mogami Keiji Possessing a GirlMob Psycho 100 II episode 4 had the most variety in tone and it was executed timely. It was intense, comical, creepy, and had complex ideas of free will, so I will give it the #1 spot for tone and themes.

Dororo episode 4 retains dark and violent tone usually used in this series. It also had a very simple theme of sorrow and tragedy, but it proved to be very effective, so with that I will give this the #2 spot for tone and themes.

Reincarnated as a Slime episode 17 had a cheerful and comical tone, and nothing truly serious happened in the episode. There was not much action, but the theme was about building trust and connections among other individuals, although, this was only enough to put it at the #3 spot for tone and themes.

Which anime episode had the best cinematography?

Mob Psycho 100 II episode 4 used lighting as a way to create contrast between light and shadow. The possessed girl looked very menacing once the action starts. There was a lot of blood in a couple scenes to create a shock factor, and the camera angles and shots were epic. The bombastic and over-the-top music soundtracks made the scenes larger-than-life even though the Nihiru Corrupts Tanosukeepisode took place in a small setting. This episode is in the #1 spot for cinematography because of how much effort and material the animators put into the episode.

Dororo episode 4 is in the #2 spot for cinematography because they utilize the rainy weather to create a gray color scheme that brought out certain colored imagery such as blood or blue flowers. They used a slow rhythm drum soundtrack for unsettling scenes and a faster rhythm for more action type scenes.

In Reincarnated as a Slime episode 17, the art and animation was great in small amounts of the episode, while the rest was still slightly above average. One scene with great animation showed Rigurd’s severely disfigured face looking like the comic book Batman character Two-Faced. They placed the perfect soundtracks in the right scenes, but the best music compositions was used toward the end of the episode. Anyway, what I explained about this episode only puts it in the #3 spot for cinematography.
