Radiant anime episode 6 dropped November 10, 2018, on Japanese television as well as having a broadcast on Crunchyroll. The main character has finally started his first step to master the secret of fantasia.
This anime episode was a bit slow, but does help give character development to the main character Seth. He must master the secret of fantasia before moving forward in the series. Now, I will give you my honest review of Radiant anime episode 6.
In anime episodes 6 of Radiant, the main character Seth has to learn spell casting before Yaga can give information to Seth about finding Radiant. Seth has trouble to master the secret of fantasia magic, so he recruits the help of Doc and Melie in order to cast spells using fantasia.
Seth is excited to learn from Yaga about Radiant, but gets slightly derailed when Yaga refuses to say anything unless Seth can master the secret of fantasia. So Seth goes on a little detour to master spell casting.
Melie will like to teach Seth how to use magic, but she’s no good at using it herself. When all hope seemed lost for Seth, Melie’s personality changes and she starts attacking Seth.
Doc also tries to help Seth, but Seth still could not understand how to cast spells with fantasia.
Another thing I want to mention is that two characters are introduced in this anime episode. A character named Melba, who makes her debut for the first time in this anime series, owns a coffee shop with her father. Melba seems to be well acquainted with Doc and Melie.
Tone & Themes
I have to say that throughout the entire episode, it was mostly comedic. I didn’t have a problem with that because the comedy really had me cracking up. There was a bit of action when Seth was trying to learn how to use fantasia magic, and it kind of mixed in well with the comedic aspect of the episode.
One theme I noticed in this episode is that sometimes your friends are the best teachers. Another theme I noticed this episode was that you need to be prepared before you go out on a dangerous expedition.
Animation & Sound
The animation was excellent in this episode. The animators made sure to not have any wonky character designs no matter the camera shot or angle a character was positioned in. It seemed like the color palette of this episode mostly had cool colors, and I didn’t really notice any warm colors at all.
I always like how beautiful the art looks for the environment where the characters are placed or the look of fantastic architecture of the buildings in Artemis Academy. I also like how the atmosphere turns dark whenever a sorcerer is charging up their fantasia magic.
The sound effects seemed natural to me and the music doesn’t stand out much, but it works with the comedic tone of this episode. All the voices for the characters are tolerable, except the voice for Seth and I mean no disrespect to the voice actor because I just believe it was a casting mistake.
Radiant Anime Episode 6 – Final Thoughts
I really had fun with this episode for its comedic tone. It may have been a slow episode for the development of the story, but sometimes it’s healthy for a series that have slower and not so serious episodes. But I will say that the main character did get development with learning how to use fantasia magic.
The new characters introduced were interesting, but not spectacular. I believe that Doc brought the most comedic relief in this episode because of how things just don’t always go his way. The animation is always great to look at, and the animators I don’t use cheap animation such as CG animation.
I give this episode a score of 8.5 out of 10.
